Academic Areas:Stylistics, Translation Theory and Practice, English for Specific (Academic) Purpose

Hu Zhiqing is the Professor of School of Foreign Languages at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). His research spans Stylistics, Translation Theory and Practice, English for Specific (Academic) Purpose. He also cares for Intercultural Rhetoric and Communications. He focuses on questions such as: How to analyze language in literature from linguistic perspective? How to tackle culture in translation from English into Chinese or vice versa? What are the differences in discourse in research articles by native English speakers and Chinese EFL learners? He is the project leaders of some research grants on provincial and ministerial level. He has widely published in the leading scholarly journals in linguistics and language studies. Professor Hu teaches in HUST English undergraduate and postgraduate programs as well as English as second major program including Stylistics,General Linguistics, Advanced English, Intensive English, English Reading and English Listening.
