Fan Lei is the Lecturer of English Department, School of Foreign Languages at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). Her research spans theories of intercultural communication, cross-cultural adaptation, cultural values, conversation analysis, English language teaching and education. She focuses on questions such as: What are the acculturation strategies of Chinese overseas students in the       U.S. ? What are the different cultural values of Chinese and American college students? What are the changes of Chinese college students       cultural values on individualism and collectivism? What is the language mechanism of conversational misunderstandings in academic settings? How to cultivate English majors pragmatic competence through the course of intensive reading? She is the project leaders of some provincial and university-level research grants, and members of several national research projects. She is a member of China Association for Intercultural Communication (CAIC), and active in the international conferences of IC field, like International  Academy for Intercultural Research (IAIR) and International Association of Intercultural Communication Studies (IAICS). She has a handful of publications in journals of language, culture and literature. She teaches language skill courses and major courses to English majors in English Department.
