The 8^th Model United Nations concluded successfully in Technology Building Room 104 in Huazhong University of Science and Technology on November 20^th.

The meeting is held by Conference Chairs Jing Ai, Shiyue Liu, Fuheng Deng and Academic Representative Xinjian Li. First, the delegates have a 15-minute colloquy and make a final discussion about draft decision. Then, the signatories sign this draft decision and all the sponsors make an introduction about it. After the meeting, Representative Xinjian Li extends his heartfelt thanks to all the delegates and staffs and speaks highly of the 8^th Model United Nations. The 8th Model United Nations also provides entertaining prizes such as the cutest prize, the most handsome and beautiful prize and so on. Then the winners pose for a group photo.

In the simultaneous interpretation room of science and technology building, the hall presented two draft resolutions: one is draft 1.1, developed by Japan, the United States and Canada; another is draft 1.2, developed by China, Cuba, India and other developing countries. In the formal debate, Japan, the United States and Australia introduce a number of important measures of draft 1.1: the development on new energy sources, the establishment on carbon emissions trading system and the protection of forests. The representative of China then bluntly pointed out several shortcomings of draft 1.1. Two camps fights against each other and deadlocked for a while. After three intense free-consultations, they reach a consensus and have a unanimous vote on amendment 1.2 which is developed by Japan, Tuvalu and the United States. Finally, Session 5 successfully concludes. The representative of Tuvalu Weiye Wa and Shengrong Zhou and the representative of Cuba Qinyuan Yao respectively are awarded by the WCED Bureau as the most dedicated prize and the most calm prize.

After Session 5, all the officers and representatives participate in the closing ceremony held by Zhiyuan He. First, MUN’s guidance Yangliu Qing give a speech and extends her heartfelt thanks to all the members. Then the officers play a closing ceremony video which is produced by the student federation. It records the most memorable time in MUN. After that, the general secretary Tan Haoping praises the delegates’ efforts and hopes that there could be more people next year in participating in MUN. And next the awards ceremony pushes the meeting to a new high. In the participation of WHO issues, the representative of the United States, Yu Xiao gets the best representative prize; the representatives of China, Jiayu Sun and Yue Yao; the representatives of Jordan, Haoyu Dong and Gancheng Sun win the most outstanding representative prize; the representatives of Japan, Yue Chen and Siyue Li win the best diplomatic style prize; the representatives of South Korea Pisso Nseke and Anzi Dong win the best Charisma prize; the representative of Liberia Tianhang Xia and Yu Liu get the best speech prize; the representative of South Africa Xin Zong and Yan Zou, along with the representative of Egypt Dongxuan Chen and Zhiyi Xu win the best communication prize; the representative of Australia, Abbas and Zhuolun Li, along with the representatives of Algeria Qingling Li and Ling Liu win the best position prize. In the participation of WCED issues, the representatives of China Fangyuan Zhang and Yana Wan, the representative of Japan Yuan Lin and Lingbo Luo, along with the representative of Canada, Hongjun Huang and Linghao Xu win the most outstanding prize; the representative of the United States Yu Zhang and Sixuan Li win the best position prize. After the ceremony, Xinyi Li and Fengrui Gan from the Bureau perform magic tricks and extend their gratitude to this meeting. After the closing ceremony, the delegates pose for a group photo.

The 8^th Model United Nations in Huazhong University of Science and Technology concludes successfully. The MUN exercises students’ scene of responsiveness and the sensitivity to international affairs. The conference will become their unforgettable memories in the campus life.
