September 4 witnessed the opening ceremony of 2014 freshman in School of Foreign Languages, Huazhong University of Science and Technology at Room 104 in the south tower of Science and Technology Building. Attending the opening ceremony are Dean Fan Weiwei, Secretary of CPC General Branch of our school Liu Fang, Vice President Xu Mingwu, Liu Zehua, Xu Jinfen, Zhang Zaihong, Deputy Secretary of CPC General Branch of our school Que Zijiang, teacher of all departments, teachers from freshmen class, college faculty representatives, 2014 master and undergraduate freshmen and parent representatives Miss Yan Yunling. Wang Xi, Secretary of Youth League Committee hosted the ceremony.
The solemn national anthem declared the open of the opening ceremony.
Fan Weiwei gave a welcome speech on behalf of the school.She briefly presented an overview of our school, and said: "My keywords today are: learning to learn, learning to do, learning to behave. Learn to do is to 'be curious', 'ask questions', ' read widely', ' think critically', 'speak eloquently'. "Her speech is concise and profound. It is not only her welcome to the freshmen, but also the very first course to their university life.
Xu Mingwu as the representative of the freshmen's teacher gave a modest speech, offering many valuable suggestions to the freshmen. Representative of senior students Xiang Kemi shared a lot of experiences in learning and life; freshmen representatives Zhao Youdie expressed her expectations; parent representative Yan Yunling also expressed her expectations to the students.
The successful closing of the ceremony announced the beginning of the campus life of freshmen.
It is reported that Secretary Liu Fang and the counselor went to the students dorm to visit students in the evening. Secretary Liu kindly asked students about their living states, making the students feel the care from school.Meanwhile, our school also organized round-guide activities that night, aimed to establish close relations between seniors and freshmen.
