On May 17, the final of the Fourth English Speech Contest in universities of central China was held in Room 104 of Science and Technology Building by our school as a part of the Campus Culture Festival. Students from seven universities in Wuhan gave fantastic English speech.

First, the hosts Yang Meng and Zhong Cheng declared the open of the contest and introduced the judges:Zhang Wude from English Department and foreign teachers Michelle as well as Michael.

The 14 contestants have their own stylies. Final process is divided into two parts: the first round of the prepared speech, entitled "Dream and Reality". The contestants take the stage according to the order of the draw. After the speech, each contestants will answer a question from the judges. The No.4 participant Chen Jiao Yang is from Wuhan University. And No.7 participant Hu Kemian is from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. Both of them used slides to display the main content of their speech and to help audience better understand them. Their speeches are rich in content and diverse in figure of speech. They used storytelling, quoting or raised thought-provoking questions, providing their unique insights on the topic dream and reality.

The most eye-catching part is the speech style of each participant. The No.2 participant Gong Jiayu who is from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law answered the question impressively. Her quick thinking and fluency in English are admirable. Also participant Zhang Jiaqi from our university emoted very naturally.

Following the score of the first round, the second round of impromptu speeches began. There are 8 contestants in this part who will give impromptu speech depending on the selected image. .Most images reflect today's social problems. The contestants are quick in mind and provide penetrating views on the basis of their the reality and their personal experience. The audience think high of the performance of the contestants.

Finally is the exciting moment of awards. Winner of the first prize is Gong Jiayu from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. Second prize winners are Zhang Jiaqi from our University and Qian Ruiyun from Huazhong Agricultural University. Other contestants received third prize or Awards of Excellent. What's more, Chen Anni from Huazhong Agricultural University, was named the most popular participant through online voting,.

During the English speech contest, the participants showed their peculiar style and also brought audience an enjoyable experience. That's the end of the contest.
